I first became aware of Ramona Zabriskie and her Wife for Life work when she spoke to our women’s organization at church. I remember seeing myself in each of the Crazy Ladies and feeling the glow from the light bulb over my head as she discussed the male quest. Later that night, I folded my notes from her lecture and tucked them into a secret compartment in my purse where they remained, treasured and oft reviewed, until I acquired her book and enrolled in Wife for Life University.
The payoff for Wife for Life has been immediate and deep. It has given me perspective to calmly reframe things that annoy and bewilder me into the bigger picture of my husband’s quest; hence our home and my heart have become more peaceful. I have been able to consider my own behaviors from a new point of view, conscious of tendencies that might awaken unspoken fears along with ensuing conflict.
When I compare the investment in time and money I spent in preparation for a career with that of Wife for Life University, I think of this quote by C. S. Lewis: “The homemaker [WIFE] has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for one purpose only – and that is to support the ultimate career.” It makes sense to invest in every way in the career that remains constant and carries the weight of soul development, my own included.
I recommend Wife for Life for women of all ages who have husbands or are raising sons. It is practical, relatable, and indispensable for building lifelong, loving relationships with men.
