Heather's Story

Back Home

My husband and I met in college in Hawaii. A couple years later we both happened to live in Colorado & crossed paths again. We quickly became inseparable. It didn’t take long before we had a little family and were married.

After 8 years of marriage and a total of 5 kids, I started to realize we were spending more time apart than together. We barely made eye contact when we were together and temptations snuck in.

Not having a healthy relationship with my own mother or sister, I didn’t have anyone to confide in. I found myself very lost and unsure of what to do. So our struggles led us to counseling. We spent a small fortune and didn’t make very much headway. Then a friend recommended a book- a simple book.

Not being a big reader I cautiously placed an order on Amazon. I read Wife for Life in about 3 days, with about 3 boxes of tissue. Ramona shares stories, history and many general trends between men and women. She gives her readers tools and techniques for her readers to construct the “Grand Marriage” we all dream of. I think of my marriage like a game of chess- I’m using a few key moves to develop a strategy that will eventually reveal that “Grand Marriage”.

I also knew if I wanted to change my marriage I really needed to do more than read a book. So when I saw the reasonable price of the University, and the payment plan available I knew I had to make the investment.

I can tell you one semester has changed my life! I now have a wonderful group of ladies I can confide in, who keep me accountable for my “homework” and who help me see ways to implement all of Ramona ‘ lessons. And I’ve been able to feel more progress than with counseling.

I also want to clarify that I have never felt like I’ve been encouraged in any way to bow down or submit to my husband. I am not someone who attends church, or practices any kind of religion so I was very cautious at first, and even though religious traditions are mentioned they are only used to build context in the lesson. Ramona’s goal is to educate and empower women of their potential to influence their relationships no matter their background or beliefs.

If you are even considering reading the book or attending the University, I promise you that you will not be disappointed! I will be forever grateful for this experience. I also know I still have a long way to go so I’m attending the next semester too and I hope I see you there!

I am a Wife for Life, and you are too!
